Well here's an Idea I got while talking in the car with OzKangaroo about cons.

Problem:
Artists have to pay for a desk (or half desk) and spend all their time manning the desk and miss out on the con.

Solution 1:
We have a first-come first-served basis for about 3 or 4 desks for artists. An artist can show up, book a half desk for a few hours (about 3 max say) and be able to sell comissions to people.

What could happen is that artists could be allocated in a rota, where they can prebook what times to be there (which can be rewarded with larger blocks) while artists can still just turn up and take an empty block (but only be allowed for a shorter time).

Solution 2:
Have a "Dealers Only" entry to the con. If a dealer will always be at his/her desk during the con and doesnt want to participate in any of the events they can get a subsidised rate.

This seems a little harder to do since furs love to wander and mingle.

Thoughts please.

It's a good idea, I'll say that for sure. Its one to take into consideration and then i think its a case seeing what the dealers who would like to turn up feel like because by the looks of things the dealers den could be part of one of the main con spaces which makes isolating them off in a darkened room like most cons do less of a problem.

So, we'll definately have that on the table (no-pun intended) but it'll be a case of seeing what the dealers are happy with in my view.
