So, I've heard of this being done at other cons, but not too well (crinkly dance mats that slide all over the place, poor selection of songs etc), so initially a DDR contest was something I didn't want done, however, at may be ScotiaCon can get it's paws on an actual factual dance machine (possibly DDR, ITG, or DDX), meaning a tournament would be a lot of fun, plus the machine would be available for casual play throughout the con. As it's a it'd be a proper competition, there would of course be a prize for the winner.
Fursuits'd either be encouraged, or we could host a seperate tournamet for suiters.
What's everyones opinions on this?

I love DDR... I'm no good at it, and end up looking like a total spaz, but it's all for a laugh... As long as no one will be putting it on youtube...

DDR, unfortunately something I've never really had the chance to learn - plus I lack any sense of balance to speak of. I blame the lack of a tail to act as a counterbalance - that's my excuse and I'm sticking with it! In the right atmosphere however, I may be willing to join in and make a complete fool of myself.
I imagine that there are a bunch of companies out there who could be able to rent you a DDR machine for the weekend - especially as you've got 10 months notice. Quick search on Google revealed a good few companies who can supply arcade machines in Aberdeen - a good few don't have websites though, so you'll probably have to give them a ring.
Renting one for a few days would probably be the way to go I think - especially if you can find a company that will deliver, as they're heavy suckers to move those machines! If you're renting and it breaks down, at least you've got some comeback then as well, just make sure you read the small print in the agreement.
